From Four Corners, I made my way through Utah, unsure where I was heading having once again lost my way. I ended up driving through the famous Utah Canyonlands, finally stopping in Moab after midnight at the only campground that wasn’t full. When I woke up, I discovered that I was literally less than a mile down the road from the entrance to Arches National Park. I spent several hours going through the park and only made it halfway through. This was an unexpected adventure (the best ones are!) and I desperately want to go back. I also passed up Chaco Canyon and Canyonland National Park due to time restraints; I had to be back in Olympia on Wednesday to attend the community college new adjunct orientation on Thursday morning.
In closing, I love the southwest and would like to live there in the future, if only for a few years. This road trip was a truly amazing experience. It served as a wonderful farewell to summer and helped mentally prepare me for the busiest two weeks in recent memory.
