The more things change

the more they stay the same. Or something like that, I suppose.

The quarter is over though summer classes start next week. I’m teaching a screen-printing course because it’s popular and fills quickly, ensuring that it will run in our ever-budget-crunched economy. Budgets are getting slashed again, trimming non-existent fat from an already anemic higher education system. Time for a plan B.

Meanwhile…

My students made amazing work this year. I’m currently going through multitudes of digital files and will be posting some of their best work here over the coming weeks. I’ll also be linking to their tumblr accounts because hey, that’s what the kids do these days. I however, will be taking a day long workshop in Seattle this July learning fancy WordPress tricks so I fix this blog up and make it more functional and interactive.

Goals this summer:

  1. Ride my bike, go for walks, get out into the woods.
  2. When not doing the above things, get down into the studio and Make Stuff. Too many ideas.
  3. Update this website. Yes, I have new work to get up. Work on those links! Update Social Network-y Things.
  4. Plan August road trip through the northern US, into Chicago, looping back around. Visit parents in Kentucky? See at least one amazing thunderstorm.
  5. Spend a day printing at Hamilton Wood Type with Adam Beadel in Wisconsin.
  6. READ. A lot. Write about what I’m reading here on Play.  Update Library Things account.
  7. Donate old, unworn or non-fitting clothes. Go through all binders and recycle old paper materials. Shred stuff!

I’m sure there will be more, but I have to get up in 5 hours and go to work. Oh yeah… that work thing. Gotta figure that out too.

And now, a picture of the snoring feline I will be climbing into bed with momentarily.
