Moveable Type – on wheels

Date

Last week, Kyle Durrie of Power and Light Press brought her Moveable Type project to Olympia in a converted 1982 Chevy Van. Based in Portland, Oregon, Kyle received an amazing amount of support for her cross country movable type venture from her kickstarter campaign, more than doubling her initial campaign amount of $8,000. Impressive! No pun intended. She parked her van behind Old School Pizza and around the corner from Olympia’s DIY print shop, Community Print. Dozens of people turned out, hanging out for hours with fellow print enthusiasts. Here’s her blog on her experience in Oly, featuring two Evergreen students, Coco and Eric.

She’s also starting a postcard club — for $25, you will receive 5 hand printed letterpress postcards from her cross-country adventures. What a deal!! Moevable Type is traveling through March of 2012. Check out the website for a location near you!

Poster advertising the project! The poster is printed really nicely in color but I had to grayscale it because my photo was poor.

Also, my new favorite pooch, Hank. Oh, how I want a dog!
