Judith Baumann was born on the first day of spring in a small suburban development outside of Buffalo, NY. She currently lives in Flagstaff, Arizona where she is an Instructor in Foundations in the School of Art at Northern Arizona University. From 2005 – 2014, she managed a large printshop and taught printmaking, drawing, painting and 2D Design at The Evergreen State College as well as South Puget Sound Community College. From 2008 – 2013, she also served as the Gallery Director for Northern, a non-profit, all-ages art and performance space. She has taught multiple letterpress workshops at Pope Press Olympia and The Sitka Center for Art and Ecology in Oregon. Under the imprint Renegade Cascade Editions, she creates unique printmedia editions of her own work and fine art print collaborations. She specializes in lithography, letterpress and digital integration in print.
Judith received her MFA in Printmedia from Virginia Commonwealth University and her BFA from Alfred University NYSCC School of Art + Design. In 2015, she completed Tamarind Institute’s prestigious Professional Printer Training Program. She has participated in workshops at Tamarind Institute, The Pacific Northwest College of Art, and The School of Visual Concepts in Seattle. She apprenticed under Master Printer Mark Mahaffey of Mahaffey Fine Art in Portland, Oregon. She is the 2005 recipient of Virginia Museum of Fine Art Professional Fellowship Award in Printmaking. Her work has been shown nationally in Richmond, VA, Chicago, IL; Las Vegas, NV; New York City, and Knoxville, TN.
Judith also fixes, restores and calibrates printing presses. She has worked on a variety of platen, proof and Vandercook presses. Please contact her for additional information.
